The brief

Fluffy is the Sunday evening event held at the Family Nightclub in Brisbane. The name 'Fluffy' comes from the main character and mascot's name for the weekly event. Alice in Wonderland was part of a monthly series of eight Fairytales, or in this instance Fluffy Tales.

To achieve the background, a montage was first created in Photoshop before being exported to Illustrator. I used Illustrator’s Live Trace ability to turn the raster image into a scalable vector so the poster could be blown up to A0 size without loss of quality.

The Fluffy character Eva was chosen to play Alice. I set about imbuing Eva with complimentary features to those of the original Lewis character drawing upon my childhood recollections and impressions as a resource. I used a photo sourced from Deviantart by ~PrincessBelle-Etoile to base my Alice character on. The photo shows a perfect pose for the character as she falls down the rabbit hole. Each fold of fabric and skintone was traced in vector until the final result was achieved. Other Fluffy Tales in this particular series include Rapunzel, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Cinderella, King Arthur and the Wizard of Oz.

Extras

I wanted to make all the Fluffy characters more realistic and have their own personality and style. The goal was to make people relate to the characters. I wanted the viewers to have an affinity for the characters or even have a favourite. We aimed to achieved this by incorporating a series of character profiles, where each character had their own star sign, hobbies, jobs and background.
