The brief

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is another artwork in the Comic series for Fluffy. As in the rest of the series, I have included a Fluffy character to portray the monthly heroine, in this case, Fluffy himself.

The character of Fluffy is one of the few original characters. When I was first contracted to begin the artwork for Fluffy, he had a different look and a different bunch of friends. Gradually over four years, his look became more refined and new friends were added. I wanted to make all the Fluffy characters more realistic and have their own personality and style. The goal was to make people relate to the characters.

In the case of all my Fluffy artworks, I first source relevant images to create the vector illustration. I then painstakingly draw all the colours, contours and shapes which comprise of the image. To create this comic book look, I included the black outlines which give comics their distinctive style. Even though I aim to keep the character’s faces consistent and recognizable, I still needed it to tie in with the comic book styling. For He-Man, I made Fluffy’s face a little slimmer and square, giving him additional masculinity and making him appear more like the original He-Man.
