The brief

The Family Nightclub in Brisbane hold an event every Sunday evening called “Fluffy.” I have been creating the Fluffy artwork since 2004 and developing the gang of misfit cats imbuing them with personalities, hobbies and interests. Every few months we create a series based around a common theme. Peter Pan belongs to a series of eight ‘Fluffy Tales’ based on popular children’s Fairytales.

In each piece of artwork I use one or more characters from Fluffy’s gang. This piece features Damien as Peter Pan and Giselle as Tinkerbell. To create the artwork I sourced images to create the scene and characters. Occasionally I utilize Illustrator’s Live Trace functions but more often I painstakingly draw each shadow, highlight, eyelash and piece of clothing. Depending on the particular character, the vector process takes between two and eight hours.

In Peter Pan, Damien is watching over Captain Hook’s ship from the comfort of his tree house. Giselle as Tinkerbell is clearly unimpressed by the lack of attention she’s receiving.
