The brief

Each month Harry invents a theme for his character/alter ego Fluffy.  Over the last 4 years, Fluffy has assumed a various assortment of characters.  I have produced all artwork and development for Fluffy and his friend’s personas. Storm is part of a monthly series that pays homage to the art of the comic book. Each of the characters were featured as particular comic book characters including Batman, Wonder Woman, Xena, Sailor Moon, He-Man, Spiderman to name a few. For the month of March, the comic character Storm was chosen. Eva, a Fluffy character, was the best fit for the role of Storm.

In the case of all my Fluffy artworks, I first source relevant images to create the vector illustration. I then painstakingly draw all the colours, contours and shapes which comprise of the image. To create this life-like look, more attention was paid to the shading and highlighting of the skin tones and fabric. The characters' faces were kept consistent across each artwork, so they were easily recognisable to the viewer.

Extras

After the main illustration is finished, I then add some finishing touches. To give the appearance of a comic book various ‘worn’ textures were applied to the finished artwork. The Comics Code Authority logo, ‘price’, ‘Fluffy Comic Group’ banner and publication information were all placed on the designs including a barcode (the numbers spell out the word ‘Fluffy’). Sometimes page curls were even included.
